My Favorite Kinds Of Workouts
Tomorrow I’ll be doing one of my favorite kinds of workouts I ever thought of.
Luckily for me and you, it’s incredibly simple and easy to do!
The basis is very simple – just set a timer and have at it until the buzzer stops. Don’t look at the timer, don’t try to figure out in your head how much longer you have, just GO.
It doesn’t really matter what you do either.
When I do this, I usually do a mix of kick boxing, jogging, sprints on a bike, plyometrics, endurance exercises like pushups and squats, and some resistance bands.
Try it out and let me know what you think. It’s a great way to overcome boredom and get away from the rigid fitness regime you’re currently following!
Ever Have A “Junk Food Hangover”?
If you’re the type of person who eats healthy nearly all the time and hardly ever eats junk food, this post by one of my favorite bloggers, Rusty Moore, is something you’re going to love.
In the post he talks about a “Junk Food Hangover” which is essentially the sick feeling you get if you suddenly eat really greasy and/or unhealthy food after going for awhile with eating strictly healthy food.
Now I won’t give away his post because it’s something you MUST read if you’re the kind of person who gets tired after eating a lot of carbs or eating pretty much any kind of high glycemic food…so head on over to http://fitnessblackbook.com/diet-tips/why-a-junk-food-hangover-is-a-good-sign/ and leave a comment for Rusty and let him know what you think!
Is It Ok To Change A Workout Early?
Something I’ve been asked and have actually asked myself in the past has been the question “Is it OK to change a workout early?”
What I mean is this…
If you have a workout that you want to do for 4 weeks in a row then switch, but after 2 weeks you have a hard time doing it anymore (either mentally or physically)….should you change it, or try to push yourself through it?
In my opinion, you need to change it.
The reason is because if you try to push yourself too hard, you’re mentally going to wear yourself out. And if you can’t get through it physically, you’ll either end up injured or overtrained.
So either way, you’re NOT doing yourself a favor by trying to push through something you can’t do.
I’ll be honest, I personally have a hard time with this sometimes. I know that I should be changing my workout because I’m kind of forcing myself through it, but I don’t. It happened to me today though – and I’m changing my workout tomorrow.
How about you? Did this ever happen to you?
A Crazy-Effective Ab Exercise
**I’ll be writing 2 blog posts tomorrow to make up for the missed post on yesterday (Monday) – so stay tuned!**
So the other day I was experimenting in my basement while lifting and did an exercise that caused me to literally have to hold all my laughs in today because it made my abs so sore.
What I’m talking about is the 1 armed dumbbell bench press.
Now first of all I’m a HUGE fan of doing dumbbell benches over a barbell – simply for a more injury-free workout. Barbells tend to start hurting my rotator cuff after a few workouts with them (maybe that’s due to the fact that I tore my rotator cuff in 9th grade, who knows).
Anyway, instead of telling you why this is such a great exercise (you’ll know why the first time you do it), just do me a favor and watch this video then try it out for yourself.
I should warn you though – your abs are going to be feeling it the next day so take it easy if it’s your first time doing it!
Can You Take Just 1 Itsy Bitsy Minute Out Of Your Life Today
First, I want to apologize for writing this message so late. Most of you probably won’t even get it until Tuesday so if so – sorry about that.
Anyway I just wanted to write quick today to make sure YOU were doing your part in remembering those who have died in the past for us to be able to have the kind of lives we’re living today.
You know, most of us (myself included) take out lives for granted.
Even if you’re overweight or don’t have as much money as you’d like, would you rather be living in a country where you got shot for speaking your mind? Or where you couldn’t openly practice your religion without the constant fear of getting put to death or tortured?
Just realizes that those kinds of things actually do happen on this Earth is enough to make me sit down and simply close my eyes and thank all those who’ve died for us in the past. And to thank those of us who are continuing to let that be a reality.
So before you go to bed tonight, or at some point in the day on Tuesday if you’re reading this Tuesday…please just take 1 minute out of your life and do the same.
Don’t take your life for granted. We’ve been blessed to be able to live not only in the time we’re living in, but also the country. And even if you’re not in the United States, you should be thankful as well for all the people who’ve died in YOUR country to get those same freedoms.
Without them, life would be much different and much more difficult.
