The Yo-Yo Diet And What They Never Told You
The yo-yo diet is a very common phenomenon in the fat loss world, and one that many people have a very hard time dealing with.
And unfortunately many people in the fitness industry will give very “surface-level” questions when asked about this topic. They might say things like…well you must not be doing your goals right, or you should just be more focused!
But is that REALLY the reason the yo-yo diet exists?
I think not.
The True Cause Of The Yo-Yo Diet
The one thing that most people don’t understand about the yo-yo diet is that it has almost nothing to do with what you’re doing on the outside. I don’t mean working out or eating healthy doesn’t matter – I mean that goals or anything like that will NOT make a difference. You can have the best goals in the world but if this certain part of you isn’t aligned correctly (which I’ll explain in a second)…you’re still going to get sucked into the yo-yo diet world.
Ok, so what causes it?
It’s simple really. It’s when your mental image of yourself doesn’t match up to what your body looks like on the outside.
Let me explain.
Let’s say you’ve been dieting for a few months for an upcoming summer and you’re just starting to be able to see your abs. Or maybe you’ve just gotten your stomach flat, or whatever the case may be.
Well, if you still THINK of yourself as an overweight person – it’s impossible for you to stay slim because your mind simply doesn’t believe it.
Read that sentence again because it’s incredibly important.
I’m not saying it’s “hard” to stay slim…I’m saying it’s IMPOSSIBLE.
Now I realize a lot of people who underestimate the power of the mind absolutely will not agree with me on this, but I’ve witnessed with my own body exactly how powerful the mind can be so I know.
Here’s an example from one of my favorite personal development speakers, Jim Rohn. He said he’d been slightly overweight most of his life and his granddaughter called him “fatty” as kind of a joke – but on a regular basis.
(It may have been a different nickname but it was something saying that he was overweight)
Well, one day he told her not to call him that anymore and once she stopped – he immediately started losing weight and NEVER put it back on.
So basically what I’m saying is that if you’re the type of person who is suffering from the yo-yo diet syndrome, all you have to do is take 5 minutes twice a day and start visualizing what you want your body to look like. Get a very clear image in your head and FEEL the emotions as you look at your sexy self
Do that…and the yo-yo diet goes away and you can finally learn to stay slim forever.
New Updates For You!
First of all – sorry for the long time with no posts! I’ve had an incredibly crazy couple of months including moving, getting married and a whole bunch of other great things going on in my life.
So today isn’t really about any “fat loss” tips or anything like that – I’m simply go to give you an update and let you know I’ll be posting a little more often again. I’m not exactly sure how often, maybe 1-3 times per week depending on what ideas hit me and when, but it will be more often than once every few months!
Anyway here are a few updates:
#1 – I’m married now to an absolutely gorgeous wife! I’ve talked about her in the past as my girlfriend…and she’s finally my wife after 6 years (theirs no turning back for her now!)
#2 – I’ve gotten a ton of great reviews of my book Hassle Free Fat Loss, and am now getting prepared to completely re-do the ENTIRE website (maybe even the blog) plus add a whole bunch of new content to the book! I’m shooting to have all of this done by the end of this year, but we’ll see what happens
Along those lines I also have a new case study of a friend of mine who followed my course without any “extra” help from me, and lost 20 pounds in just a few weeks to hit his target weight of 195 – way to go Nathan!
#3 – I’m looking for a few beta-testers to take a look at my Hassle Free Fat Loss book and critique it, letting me know what you love and hate about it so that when I come out with version #2 it’s the best it can possibly be.
And just for helping me out I’m going to give you a full $20, leaving the final price at just $19.95 instead of $39.95.
(Please email me at Jeremy @ hasslefreefatloss.com and let me know you’re interested – remove the spaces before and after the @ symbol)
That’s about it for the updates. I hope you’ve had an amazing summer and if so, please let me here your stories!
Dodge Muscle Pain With Cherry Juice!
A few months ago I was reading a magazine and came across an article showing how researchers did a study with cherry juice – showing that drinking 12 ounces of cherry juice before and/or after your workout routine can not only help reduce muscle tenderness – but also speed healing (which is probably why it reduces muscle tenderness).
And by the way this research was done by the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Now my question to you is this …
The main reason this occurs is because of the all-natural compounds within the cherry juice. However, drinking 12-24 ounces of cherry juice is probably AT LEAST an extra 200-450 calories or so…so do you think you can figure out a way to get all that fruity goodness, without all that extra juice?
Let me know some of your thoughts in the comments section!
Coffee…As Good As A “Good Morning Wakeup” As People Think?
Coffee is infamous for being able to wake you up in the morning, no matter how tired you are before you start drinking it.
But is it really true, or are you just imagining that it’s working?
According to a study I read a few days ago (to be honest I can’t give you the source because I lost it)…you’re just imagining it!
Here’s What It Said…
Basically, the article showed that if you’re a daily coffee drinker – you’re not getting the same stimulus as a person who isn’t a regular coffee drinker would get.
In fact, it’s hardly even doing anything to your body in a physical way. The only reason you feel more awake is either because 1) you’re expecting it to wake you up (e.g. expectancy theory) or 2) you’re just waking up from being up longer by the time you’re done drinking the coffee!
Let me get a little more detailed on #2.
Do a test for yourself.
(first I should say this is all assuming you’re a daily coffee drinker)
Tomorrow when you get up, don’t drink coffee. Do you notice that you start waking up right around the same time you’d being waking up when you had coffee?
For example if you wake up at 8 but don’t really “get awake” until 8:30 after you’ve had coffee, see if that holds true when you DON’T have coffee.
I think you’ll be surprised at the results
Now another thing I should say is that if caffeine DOES have an impact on your body. It will wake you up, but not unless you’re giving it something it isn’t used to handling.
It’s just like exercising actually…
Keep doing the same exercise everyday and after a few weeks – you get no additional benefit.
Keep drinking the same coffee everyday and once your body gets used to it – you won’t get the energy boost anymore.
So do yourself a favor and test this out and see if it works for you.
Personally, I don’t get an energy boost unless I have more than 1 cup (I usually only have 1 cup). Maybe it depends on the person – I have no idea. This is just a little theory I want to throw out there and give you something to try!
Then just come back here with the results – I’m interested to see if this works for you!
Stupid Hollywood Models…They’re Making Us Insane!
A few days ago I was watching TV flipping through the channels (I think it was the station where you can see what’s playing on TV) and on came this little documentary type of thing about this Hollywood movie star.
He was talking about an upcoming movie he was in – and to be honest I can’t remember who it was or what movie he was gonna be in for hte life of me – and was mentioninig a few of the loves scenes in the movie.
Normally I don’t watch these kinds of things but what he said next absolutely made me laugh histarically…
He said that in order to make himself look better in the movie, he actually had abs PAINTED on his stomach!
Whhaaaattt!?!?!?!?
Yes, I’m not kidding. They literally got a paintbrush and filled in shadow marks and bumps/ridges so it made his abs look like they were popping out more than they were.
And we wonder why kids are growing up with all kinds of eating disorders, trying to make sure they look “perfect”?
Come on now!
I mean sure, it’s awesome to look awesome. I’m not saying anything is wrong with that. But you DO NOT have to be perfect. That’s just Hollywood movie stars filling your mind with dreams most people will never be able to achieve.
And if you CAN achieve the body these kinds of people have – you’re either blessed with awesome genetics or work REALLY, REALLY hard at maintaining that body.
And again, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to have a body like that. In fact it’s the opposite.
But what I’m saying is…allow yourself to live a little bit instead of being a health food junkie and eating perfectly ALL the time and thinking it’s some kind of cardinal sin to miss a workout.
If you have a tiny bit of fat around your gut, who cares? As long as YOU are happy with how you look, stay that way. Don’t try to impress other people.
I think people just get a little too crazy when it comes to looking “perfect”.
You should strive to look fantastic, but when it starts taking over your life…realize that you don’t have to be “perfect”.
Just be as good as you can and be happy with it!
